Week 11: Learning

Wow, it's the end of the term. This week we will be doing lots of fun Easter Activities. These will be related to their Reading, Writing and Maths. Along with this, we will be continuing our reading like normal. We are going to be focusing on understanding the story and telling the story back in order.

In writing, we are going to be writing a letter to Easter Bunny. We will be talking about what a Letter should have in it and how we will write it. We will bring them home with us on Thursday to leave for Easter Bunny. 

In Maths we will be going over a few of the different things we have learnt this term. We will be re-capping on ordering numbers to 20, counting forwards and backwards, knowing the numbers that come before and after to 20 and Addition and Subtraction problems to 10. 

We are going to do a little bit of art this week to go with our Easter Theme. We will be focusing on fine motor skills with colouring in and use scissors correctly. 

Week 10: Bike Track

This week got to escape the bad weather and get outside onto the bike track. The kids loved it and they built their confidence on it. We even had a few learn to ride a 2 wheeler, without trainer wheels. 

Week 10: Learning

This week in writing, we will be working on starting a sentence with a different beginning.  We will also be continuing with the learning of going back to their writing the next day to fix it up and fancy it up.

In reading, the children will be working on a different decoding skill. These skills are relevant to your child's reading level. Make sure you have a look in their communication books. Also with this, we will still be focusing on understanding the main ideas and story details. We have so far been talking about the characters and settings. This week we will be unpacking the events, and if the stories have problems and solutions. Speak with your children about these to help with there understand. 

This week we are going to do a lot of work with the children identifying sight words. These words will help them in their reading and writing. Don't forget you have the rings in their book bags.

In Maths this week we will be continuing working on skip counting in 10's and understanding the place value of these numbers. This is incorporated into our calendar maths, which we do every morning. Along with this, we will be working in our groups on the numbers that come before and after a given number and solving different addition and subtraction problem. The groups will be working out different problem at their ability which could involve

3 + 4 =

9 - 5 =

5 + __ = 8

9 - __ = 2

• No Swimming this week
• A trip to Manly Park on Tuesday 4th April 11 am to 1 pm . Bring your shoes, Drink Bottles, Lunch and School Hat.
• Bring your bikes or scooters on Wednesday

Week 9: Writing

Come into class and have a look at our fantastic writing. We have been working on using interesting and fancy words. Also, we have been going back to our writing, to fancy it up and add a sentence.
